CAPA Orange County Championship will be our second ‘Championship Pass’ qualifier tournament in 2024. Medalists in 3.0-5.0 divisions and quarter finalists of 40+ open, mixed open, women’s open and men’s open doubles divisions will receive a ‘Championship Pass’ to pre register for the CAPA California Championship 2024 12/14-15, hosting at the best pickleball facility in Socal and every participant will receive our special edition CAPA Championship Hoodie.

• DUPR sanctioned matches for 3.0-5.0, future and 40+ open divisions, round robin plus medal round format

• Bracket finishes in 3.5 hours period with minimum 5 matches

• Free CAPA 2024 Dri-Fit T-shirt included in registration

• Top 3 finishers will receive customized medals, IV2 electrolyte package for gold medalists and $10,000 prize money for open divisions

DIVISIONS

• Men's, Women’s & Mixed Doubles (Skill: 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0 Age: 8+, 35+, 50+)

• Future Doubles presented by Pickleball Cares (Skill: 3.0, 4.0, Age: 8-16)

• 40+ Open Doubles ($2500 Prize Money, Skill: 4.0+, All genders)

• Mixed Open Doubles ($2500 Prize Money, Skill: 4.0+)

• Women’s Open Doubles ($2500 Prize Money, Skill: 4.0+)

• Men’s Open Doubles ($2500 Prize Money, Skill: 4.0+)

Both players must have a DUPR rating of 4.0 to join open divisions. Teams can be formed in Men’s, Women’s or Mixed in 40+ Open.

Prize money is based on 25 teams in 40+ Open, Mixed Open, Women’s Open and Men’s Open divisions. Prize money will scale down if the bracket is less than 25 teams.

If there are more than 36 teams registered in any open divisions, spots will be prioritize to the players with higher rating.

Future Doubles 4.0 winners will be awarded with prizes sponsored by Pickleball Cares.

RULES

Round robin plus medal round format for each age division. Franklin X-40 yellow will be used. USAPA 2024 pickleball rules will be applied. Only USAPA approved paddles can be in use. Net serve is continuous play. Receivers have to call ‘out calls’ clearly and loudly in game.

Enter as a team. Both partners have to be above 35+ to join 35+ division. If player A is 34 and player B is 36, according team cannot join 50+.

Please register the corresponding level as your DUPR rating. Both partners can play above their rating, but not below. Both players have to be rated 3.49 or below to join 3.0 division. Both players have to be rated 3.99 or below to join 3.5 division.

If a player does not have a rating or rating is provisional* (with 10 or less games recorded), the player can join in any division. If players are found registering in lower divisions than their rating, it may result in disqualification.

DUPR

3.0-5.0 division and 40+ open matches will be recorded in DUPR by CAPA after the tournament. Mixed open, women’s open and men’s open division matches will not be recorded in DUPR. Please allow 2-3 weeks after the tournament for results being uploaded.

Every player will need a DUPR account before they register.

40+ Open Doubles: $120 Per Person/$240 Per Team

Mixed Open Doubles: $120 Per Person/$240 Per Team

Women’s Open Doubles: $120 Per Person/$240 Per Team

Men’s Open Doubles: $120 Per Person/$240 Per Team

GUIDELINES

Please enter both players’ information on ‘Additional Information’ when you check out, and make sure both players register and pay before the deadline.

Zelle- If the online registration shows your division is full and you have not paid yet OR if you do not have paypal, please zelle to capickleballassociation@gmail.com, make sure to email you and your partner’s full name, email, DUPR ID, DUPR rating, age and division.

Confirmation- Once online registration is successful, player will receive a confirmation email from Squarespace with a confirmation number, your team will be updated to the ‘Player List’ shortly and a welcoming email will be sent after the registration deadline.

Players not paid- Any teams which have not complete payment for registration before the registration deadline will be moved to the waiting list, and may result in losing registration spot.

Refund- If you withdraw before the registration deadline, refund will be processed one week after the deadline. $3 paypal processing fee will be applied to each transaction withdrawal. No refund or credit will be given on cancellations after registration deadline for any reasons. No refund due to weather conditions.

Changes- Please email us before registration deadline for any changes (partners, divisions, DUPR ID, contact info, etc). No more changes will be allowed after.

Pickleball Cares is a non profit program associated with Major League Pickleball to change lives through Pickleball – from players of all skill levels to the communities that support the game. This will be accomplished by introducing the game to youth and thereby providing life-changing opportunities for education, health, and well-being through pickleball. Pickleball Cares strives to improve outcomes for the education, health, self-confidence, and well-being of all who are touched by the sport of pickleball.
